Common Public Radio Interface

CPRI is a standard is the internal radio interface that establishes and maintains a connection between the radio equipment controller (tower) and remote radio equipment (location). To meet the increased capacity required for 5G wireless communication, a secondary local level access point may be needed at a specific location. For example, an office building may have 5G transmission equipment located on the premises, rather than relying on a nearby cell tower. The standard protocols for creating this connection will have to be modified to account for the increased capacity requirements of 5G.
